This large wooden bowl will truly be an heirloom to hand to future generations. Carved entirely by hand from a huge cherry log, the colors and grain are rich and warm and will only get better with age. Decorative flutes on the inside of the bowl and under the handle make this piece really stand out. It would make a great family salad bowl, or fill it with your favorite fruit. This bowl also makes a wonderfully unique table centerpiece that looks good on any table.
Bowl measures 15” long by 9” wide and 3” deep.
This bowl was carved by hand using only traditional hand tools consisting of ax, adze, drawknife, and gouge using traditional bowl carving methods. Because it was made entirely by hand means that there are some imperfections in appearance that does not affect the bowl’s function. The wood is not sanded, but has a traditional knife finish burnished with a deer antler to a silky smooth hard surface. The bowl is treated with a traditional beeswax/walnut oil/mineral oil paste. To care for the bowl, an occasional light application of walnut oil will keep the bowl beautiful for many generations.
